Why do people believe a Lie before the Truth?

In Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: Today let us each examine each one of them and see just which one are we. I know some people will probably say that they are neither one, but I beg to differ because per God’s word for all have sin and fallen short of the glory of God.

Often, we read this verse and we move ahead to the next verses without giving it any thought about it. And I will be the first to say I do that at times, but when I come to verses like these where it talks about what God hates. I understand how merciful God is I also understand that God does not and will not ever put up with foolishness. He will not be mocked! It’s a sad thing when a person thinks that they are without sin.

1. A proud look – exalted eyes; those who will not condescend to look on the rest of mankind.
2. A lying tongue – he who neither loves nor tells truth.
3. Hands that shed innocent blood
4. A heart that devised wicked imaginations – the heart that fabricates such, lays the foundation, builds upon it, and completes the superstructure of iniquity
5. Feet that be swift in running to mischief – he who works iniquity with greediness.

6. A false witness that speaketh lies – one who, even on his oath before a court of justice, tells anything but the truth.

Seven are an abomination unto him – “to his soul.” The seventh is, he that soweth discord among brethren – he who troubles the peace of a family, of a village, of the state; all who, by lies and misrepresentations, strive to make men’s minds evil-affected towards their brethren.

Repent and its Fruits that goes Along with it

Matthew 3:8 says” Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

This is the message that John the Baptist was telling people when he was saying “bring forth therefore fruits meet your repentance. Bring forth therefore fruits That is, the proper fruits of reformation; the proper evidence that you are sincere.

Do not bring your cunning and dissimulation to this work; do not carry your hypocrisy into your professed repentance, but evince your sincerity by forsaking sin, and thus give evidence that this coming to Jordan to be baptized is not an act of dissimulation. No discourse could have been more appropriate or more cutting.

When thinking about this one did not know that we are to bear fruit, when you repent, because many of us aren’t taught this. We are taught to repent and nothing else.

It is obvious that John is saying we must bear fruit and when you go over to Matthew 7:19 it says” Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So, what does this mean to us, it means when we repent of our sins that sin that you repented of you and I should never do it again. Not to say you won’t be tempted because the enemy will tempt you but we are to bear the fruit of no sin, and if our fruits are sin than we too will be cut down for we are not producing a holy lifestyle in which we are commanded by Jesus to live.

I know this is allot to swallow and for many it’s something new but it’s time for us to come off the milk and start eating meat. Let the Holy Spirit guide you as you digest this. AMEN
