Matthew 7:15 says “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Philippians 3:2 says “Watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh.
Proverbs 16:27 says’ an ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is a burning fire. (This is a person who gossip)
- Beware of distractions, favoritism.
- Beware of imitations, not everything that looks genuine really is genuine. Not everyone who claims to speak God’s truth really knows God.
- Beware of speaking of the adulteress/prostitute, found in Proverbs 7:26 ( Many are the victims she has brought down; her slain are a mighty throng.)
- Beware of people who criticize, Jesus says that as His disciple you should cultivate a temperament that is never critical.
The reason the Lord God tells us to beware of these things is because He does not want to see His children caught up in anything that is going to hurt us.
There are many things in this world that loves to get our attention and most of the time we find all kinds of reasons to justify in pursing those things. Now it looks pretty to our eyes we become excitable. We want to touch it, smell it and have it.
What we always seem to forget is that the enemy is doing these things just to get us off guard. As Christians we can’t even allow the smallest of things to catch us off guard. We aren’t perfect saints we are going to make errors. But the more we stay in the word and be obedient to God then we won’t have a hard time saying no to the things of this world.
