Remember your Youth!

Ecclesiates 12:1 says Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, “I have no pleasure in them.

Youth! When was the last time you played like a child? If you have kids, you watch them play. When a child plays, they can be content with any toy that is in front of them. When a child is out in the park playing, they will find pleasure in playing with a bug that their eyes spot. If there is water in a small pond, they will splash in it and add mud to it while making mud cakes.

But if you are like me, I still have that little girl on the inside of me who every now and then plays like she is still at the school yard. See, just because you are an adult now doesn’t mean that you can’t have some fun like children do, don’t get it twisted I didn’t say act like a child I said have fun like a child. I think for some of us we don’t even know how to have fun anymore. We’ve lost connection with having fun.

In my neighborhood, there are allot of children from all ages and what I love about them is their zeal for life. Each day I can hear them outside playing, laughing throwing their soccer ball and chasing their friends. When I hear, them having a good time several things come to my mind. I think about how much exercise they are getting which is fabulous and I think about what if I went outside and had fun everyday like they do? Can you imagine the impact it would have on us mentally and physically?

As adults, we teach our children many lessons, but I would have hoped that we as adults would learn a few things from our children or just children all together. Children have such an innocence about them, no wonder Jesus said what He said when He talked about the Kingdom of Heaven. I know we have busy schedules, but I think it’s time for us adults to have some fun, when was the last time you went to the park and throw a frisbee? When was the last time you slide down a sliding board or sat in a swing until you were high in the air?

For me I love having fun I don’t want to ever sit back and say “I wish I would have done that” life is short and sadly many adults forget what it was to be young and have fun. We become so focused on getting older and trying to catch up with the Jones’s that we lost sight of youth. But you will go to the store and purchase all this junk to take years of wrinkles off your face when all you must do is enjoy life and you won’t be preoccupied with what you can’t change.

Get out and have some fun, you will be amazed at what you have been missing.
