Why People have Identity Crisis?

Psalm 139:13-16 says” For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

We spend entirely too much time on the outer surface of our appearance, instead of the inside of who we think we are. We define ourselves by what society says we should look like, we pick up other people’s thoughts and beliefs without taking into thought what the truth of the matter really is.

Seriously we dislike and like things without any real reason at all. Have we taken the time to find out why we like or dislike? Could it be much easier to go on what others say? When we don’t take time to invest in the word of God about our feelings we will judge ourselves by what we have heard grown up, and our perspective is off course. For example, if you say you don’t like the color grey, what is your reasoning for not liking it? Do you have enough evidence to let that be truth for you or are you going by what someone told you about the color grey?

Why do we seek the opinions of others when it pertains to who we are? For the opinions of others should never weigh that much on a person that one values their words that they become a part of your identity! Don’t get me wrong it’s nice to seek feed-back but keep in mind that’s all it is, it doesn’t determine who you are.

Therefore, when we are secure in what Jesus says about us then the words of others will roll off of us like water. Remember you are not defined by the world system, we are defined by the one who created us and His name is God Almighty, get this settled in your heart now. Remember folks you can’t fit in with the world and be yourself, it’s one or the other!

Love who God created you to be! Stop trying to be someone God did not created you to be!
