The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
When I was a little girl this was the very first scripture my mother taught me and my sisters. Every night before we went to sleep mom would have us kneel by our beds and she would read Psalm 23 to us. It wasn’t long before we kids knew it word for word.
Mom always told us that anytime we feel frighten recite the 23rd Psalm. She said it will bring comfort to us. When I had my family, I taught my daughter the Psalm 23 and now she recites it to my grandchildren. Still to this day when I feel frighten or have a nightmare I immediately recite those words. I thank God for giving me a mother who taught us at an early age about God Almighty.
Have a blessed day.
