That’s Just Plain Nasty

Matthew 15:11 says” It’s not what goes into the mouth that defiles and dishonor him, but what comes out of the mouth, that defiles and dishonors him

When it comes to nasty things we all have a list of things which we would consider to be nasty, for instance someone eating before washing their hands, using the restroom without washing your hands. Wearing clothes that are two sizes smaller, seeing people wearing sandals and their toes aren’t clean I consider these things to be nasty.

Here in our scripture of text, Matthew is saying it’s not what goes in a person that defiles a man but what comes from his mouth that defiles a man.

Now when we hear people be disrespectful, cursing, using foul language, talking hateful words; Matthew is saying this is what defiles a man, and it brings no honor to God.

With I believe in all honesty that we all each person on this earth has defiled themselves and God. And the sad thing about it is that we continue doing it without regards to it. We can see a person eat from a hunt that they went on and we will say there is no way we would eat that. Because we view some of the animals to be nasty to eat after it’s been killed. But did you know that just because you call it nasty it’s not defiling that man who eat of it? We call it nasty true, but what defiles us is what comes from out of our hearts. Christ shows that the defilement they ought to fear, was not from what entered their mouths as food, but from what came out of their mouths, which showed the wickedness of their hearts.

To stop defiling ourselves we first must be careful as to what we allow our hearts to be influence to. For instance, when we listen to music that is not uplifting or watch movies that degrades a person or surround ourselves with people who constantly speak negatively we are allowing our hearts to attach itself to those things. Over a period of time those things grow roots and our hearts will speak and act like that which we have introduce it to.

It’s sad enough that the world dishonors us don’t you think we should honor ourselves?

God Is The I AM!!!!

God says “I AM”! When you read the scriptures and you see where God says that He is the I AM, what comes to your mind? What words jump immediately into your spirit? I don’t think we even realize just how powerful those three words are. If we did we would surely be much stronger in our faith.

Let me help you out with this, God said to Moses in Exodus 3:14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I am has sent me to you.’” He spoke to Abram in Genesis 15:1 and said After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”

He spoke to David in Psalm 46:10 and said He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

I can go all day long giving you scriptures of when God said I am. If we can get this settled in our hearts that God said I AM, then you have no need to be worried about your situation, you don’t have to stress and wonder what the outcome is. Just like God told Moses, Abraham and Isaac He is telling you and I that He is the I AM!

So, when life happens tell your environment that God is the I AM of your life and nothing happens without Him knowing it. I think at times we look at people in the bible and we wonder why or how come God isn’t speaking to us like He did to those of old? Well I am here to remind you that HE is still speaking today and will continue to speak.

We must speak to every situation in our life with the word and watch it change. We must get pass this surface relationship that we have with God Almighty, we must dig into the scriptures and allow them to be real in our hearts.

Just like you I have challenges that sneak up on me and yes sometimes I have my pity party but when I am done with my party it’s on now. I start speaking and using the authority that God has given me concerning me and though my circumstances might not change at that moment my spirit has. I am no longer downcast for my joy has returned to me.

Life happens to us all none of us are exempt from pain, but one thing we must keep in the forefront of our hearts and that is Our God is the I AM!
