Jeremiah 18:1-6 says’ The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.
Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!
Notice in verses (5) five God asked a question, He said “can I not do with you as this potter.” Did you know that everyday of your life Jesus ask you and I can I not do to you as the potter? Have you ever wondered why would God ask a question that He already knew the answer to? One of the beautiful things about God is that He will never force Himself on us, He is such a gentleman that He will wait until you answer Him and many times you and I don’t always answer the Lord so quickly when He ask us a question.
Maybe today you are facing a situation where you are not sure what to do or who to even talk to, Jesus is speaking to your heart asking you today” can I not do to you as the potter? Will you answer Him with a “yes? Being on a potter’s wheel is not easy for us it requires time and patience something which we are short on these days, but God never promised us an easy road, what He did promise us is that He will never forsake us.
Let’s go back and re-read Jeremiah 18:1-6 and let’s stay on the potter’s wheel as long as it takes for the Lord to mold and shape us. AMEN
