Office Politics in the Workplace

Colossians 3:23-24 says, whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

There was a man who worked many hours at work, he worked so hard that he neglected what was important. His family suffered from his absentee. Because the man thought that since he was the bread winner of the home it was his duty to take care of his family. Then one day the man saw how his family was suffering because dad was not there much, and his wife felt as though she lost her husband to his work.

He didn’t realize what he was doing until one day things at work got difficult that he saw for the first time that he was working more for his boss and less for God.

Family we need to understand that God wants us to work and we are to work unto the Lord, but we aren’t to work ourselves so hard that we lose perspective of what is in front of us. God wants us to serve diligently, not carelessly. God does not want us to give our employer dissatisfied work. Whatever we do we do it with a genuine attitude originating from our soul.

Ultimately, we honor God when we faithfully do our job. We may dislike our work but still God wants us to serve him heartily in that job. Rather you are sweeping floors, washing dishes, or an office job we work unto the Lord not man. It’s hard when we see some of the other employees taking longer breaks cutting corners and snuggling up to those in leadership. While all along your being ignored for your work ethics that you have. The Christian does not operate on the same standards as the rest of the employees.

Because our employer is in Heaven and His name is God Almighty. AMEN
